How much commission do I receive?

If the person you refer is hired through Octopus, you receive 10% of the successful placement fee. Commission is paid after Octopus receives payment from the client.

What makes a strong referral?

Real context, not a perfect resume. Where you worked with them, what they owned, how they delivered, what changed because of their work, and why you would recommend them to a founder. If you cannot speak to their work directly, it is not the right referral.

What happens after I refer someone?

We review the context and decide if there is a fit for current or future searches. If the person is relevant, we speak with them directly before sharing anything with a client. We never submit anyone without their permission.

We decide if there is a fit for a current or future search, and what we would need to learn next.

We speak with them first

If the person is relevant, we talk with them directly before sharing anything with a client.

If they are hired, you are paid

If they are hired through Octopus, you receive 10% commission.

This only works if trust stays clean.

A short, honest set of conditions. They exist to protect everyone in the chain, the talent, the founders and you.

You must have worked directly with the person or in the same DTC or ecommerce organization.
You must know what they did, how they delivered and what impact they had.
You must be able to explain why you recommend them.
You must also tell us where you believe they would not be a good fit.
You must name the organization where you worked together.
You must provide the organization website where possible.
You must confirm that the information you provide is true to the best of your knowledge.
If fraudulent or intentionally misleading information is provided, you will not be entitled to any payment.
Commission is only paid if the referred person is hired through Octopus.
Commission is 10% of the successful placement fee received by Octopus for that hire.
Commission is paid after Octopus receives payment from the client.
We do not submit anyone to a client without speaking to them first and receiving permission.
